Animation, at any advanced level, is not possible without a curve editor. Any animated value within Nuke is, once its node is selected, visible in the Curve Editor. Here the 'flow' of the animation is apparent with any deficits in pace and shape clearly apparent. I shall, for the most part, leave it to The Foundry to tell you all about how to use this fellow. But there are one thing I feel obliged to point out...

Curves at different scale

In the image below on the left, the value '1' is key framed at values between 1 and 0 (this is very common for a color edit). The curve '2' is key framed at values between 90 and 100. Both these animations can be visible in the curve editor at the same time, but because '2' covers such a smaller range than '1', it is much harder to evaluate. The solution is to select curve '2' and press the letter 'A'. This will force the curve to fill the window.

Option + middle mouse button + drag Scale the viewer freely on the X and Y axis.
Option command click on curve'’' Insert new control point on curve.
Command drag on point in curve Move point unconstrained in window (default is constrained to vertical or horizontal).

+ and - Zoom in and out (also scroll wheel).
F Fits and centres selected contents to pane (in the Viewer fits format to window, in the Node graph fits selected nodes to node graph etc).
Spacebar When panes are docked (i.e. not floating) this fills the workspace with the current pane).
option click + mouse drag Move the work space around within the pane.
