Scene

The Environment is a node that glues objects, cameras and lights into one thing. See also the page Simple 3D Enviroment with Materials for a further explanation of this node.

The following snippet shows two 3D arrangements: one without a scene, and one with. Both render fine, but the one with the scene can be more easily lighted using lights.

Press 'Expand' and select and copy everything below this line, then paste into the Nuke node graph.

In this scene, the sphere has been light. The only way that the light can 'talk' with the sphere in order to light it. it that they both be connected to a Scene node.
